Revision ideas and activities

Job, Batch and Flow
Two activities to reinforce learning on the three production methods. This was contributed by Michelle Ryan, a PGCE Business Studies Student at Swansea Metropolitan University. This would be a useful resource to build on the lessons on this topic in the GCSE Business Studies section.

Revision activities created by students for students
First introduced to members at the 2011 conference, this excellent set of resources for AS and A level gives examples of activities where, in order to enhance their own revision, students are asked to prepare games, worksheets and research activities for their peers. The document is given in Word as well as printer friendly format as it includes task sheets which teachers may like to adapt for their own use. The EBEA was delighted to welcome to the conference three students from Bosworth Community College to demonstrate the acitivities (see photo above).

Research an entrepreneur
A resource contributed by Andrew Collingwood of Bosworth Community College. Students are asked to carry out research on an entrepreneur and write it up in the form of a news or magazine story. An example of one student's work is given. Andrew then uses the resources with Year 10 students to introduce the topic of entrepreneurship.

Diamond 9 - Revising key terms
Looking for something a bit different to engage students with the important revision task of knowing their key terms? The Diamond 9 activity, based on the workshop tool, gives clear instructions on how to play the game, together with a PowerPoint framework for inserting your own key terms. These are the resources referred to in the Spring 2011 EBEA magazine article by Andy Redfern. Further details are given in that article.

Electronic starter resources
Ideas for short quick activities for the start or end of a lesson to reinforce knowledge. This resource was first presented to members at the 2009 conference by Kevin Abbott.
