Enterprise - Creating enterprise activities

In September 2005 Enterprise education became statutory for all key stage 4 students entitling them to the equivalent of five days’ enterprise education. These five days are in addition to work experience undertaken, by key stage 4 students, as part of work-related learning which was introduced in September 2004.

Since September 2005 every secondary school in England has received enterprise funding of £55 per pupil at key stage 4 with this funding set to continue until 2011. However, these funds are not ring-fenced so it is important that enterprise co-ordinators are aware of the funds directed to their schools for purposes of enterprise to ensure that students have access to the enterprise activities to which they are entitled. Additional funding has been given to business and enterprise colleges to work with other schools to help them successfully implement the strategy.
