BTEC First Business - Exploring business purposes

The Assignment covers the learning outcomes required for Unit 1 of the BTEC Certificate/Diploma. It gives the opportunity for learners to achieve the outcomes either at a pass, merit or distinction level.   Students are asked to research different business sectors ie manufacturing (secondary), retail (secondary) and service (tertiary). Students are also asked to explore the activities, aims and objectives, forms of ownership and functional areas of each of the businesses in various contexts. 

This is a practical assignment which students should find engaging and creative. The level of research demanded has the potential to ensure a significant and worthwhile vocational experience. 

The assignment, which can be downloaded from the column on the right, comprises four tasks, supported by three resources. As well as being provided in pdf format it is offered in Word so teachers can personalise them for their own use.
