GCSE Business - Balance sheets
The lesson aims to facilitate students’ experimentation with the underlying factors affecting an organisation’s strength by helping them to develop a balance sheet for themselves. The resources are constructed to try and encourage students to derive the principles by themselves. This is achieved through the creation of an experimental attitude to learning. Additional and supportive recourses have been provided including the use of a visual stimulus - kitchen scales.
The six resources to support the lesson comprise:
- Resource 1 – PowerPoint presentation to support discussion on financial strength
- Resource 2 – student activity – table to consider strengths and risks/
- commitments for a business
- Resource 3 – student task sheet to design a balance sheet
- Resource 4 – exemplar balance sheet in Excel and pdf format for de-brief on previous task
- Resource 5 – further student task sheet on drawing up a balance sheet
- Resource 6 – exemplar balance sheet in Excel and pdf format for de-brief on previous task
