BTEC National Business - Unit 2 - Investigating Business Resources

The resources available from this section comprise an assignment which focusses on an hotel. An hotel was selected  because it is a large organisation of a type that many learners will be familiar with – possibly as an employee and probably as a visitor or customer. This makes for an accessible setting through which to teach the learning outcomes for the unit and for learners to apply their knowledge. The synergy required to make a hotel work efficiently ideally presents learners and teachers with many discussion points on what-if scenarios.

On completion of this unit learners should: 

  1. Know how human resources are managed
  2. Understand the purpose of managing physical and technological resources
  3. Understand how to access sources of finance
  4. Be able to interpret financial statements.
