A level Business Studies - improving your students' examination skills

Students often ask about the difference between GCSE and A level Business Studies. The most accurate response should purely be ‘examination skills’.

The puzzled look that emerges on the faces of students at this point often disappears after the first two introductory weeks of the A level Business Studies course. However this is not due to the wonderful new theory and concepts that are taught. It is purely from working through a plethora of activities focused tightly on examination skills.

Once examination skills are clearly understood they can then be applied to the theory and concepts covered throughout the course . Without being equipped with the skills assessed at this level, the A level course will feel like a series of GCSE revision sessions however the students’ grades will not reflect this at the end of the course.

The activities offered in this unit will help students enhance their understanding of how levels are awarded for examination answers in order to apply that understanding to their own work.
