The scheme of work is a key planning tool in your teaching skills toolkit. It translates the specification to which you are working into a plan of how and when you will teach the topics across the available teaching weeks. This module helps you build up a scheme of work. The article discusses a different element of your scheme of work in turn. You are recommended to use the sample framework provided in the download section to complete your own scheme as you progress through the article.

The documents for download include a blank framework scheme of work which is provided in both pdf format and Word. The Word version can be personalised for your own use. Also included is a the completed exemplar scheme of work referred to in the article. The list of resources in Word has active links to useful websites.

NOTE: This unit is addressed principally at the trainee or beginning teacher and it therefore offers opportunities for independent learning.
