Supporting trainees - Guiding trainees in lesson planning and preparation
This module on lesson planning will take you through a step-by-step process allowing you to build a lesson plan as you work through the module. For ITT trainers, this module gives you a structure around which to build your training; for new teachers or those returning to the classroom after a break away, it will help you prepare fully for the classroom encounter; for experienced teachers, it provides a check that you are still covering all the bases in your own lesson planning.
The article discusses a different element of your lesson plan in turn. You are recommended to use the sample framework provided in the download section to complete your own lesson plan as you progress through the article.
The documents for download include a blank framework lesson plan which is provided in both pdf format and Word. The Word version can be personalised for your own use. Also included is a the completed exemplar lesson plan referred to in the article.
NOTE: This unit is addressed principally at the trainee or beginning teacher and it therefore offers opportunities for independent learning.
