This section offers resources to give support to those seeking to improve their teaching and subject organisational skills and gives ideas for effective lesson and classroom management.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, head of department, an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST), a mentor or a tutor leading initial teacher training the material in this section aims to offer a wide range of support. It is intended that you will find useful material on current areas of development within the subject curriculum and some practical classroom ideas. It also aims to provide support and resources for using subject contexts within the whole school curriculum.

Although the unit entitled Working in Initial Teacher Training is aimed specifically at newly appointed tutors, even  experienced teachers may find it is worth a look to refresh their thinking on, for example, preparing schemes of work and writing lesson plans.

The links in the column to the right are to generic sites which are particularly recommended as providing support, guidance and resources for teachers. The Teacher Trainer Resource Bank (TTRB) is  a useful additional source of resources and guidance for trainers, trainees and beginner teachers.
