EBEA awards

The EBEA makes two prestigious awards each year. These are presented at the annual conference.

2011 Trainee Teacher of the Year - Michael Rowlands. Michael Rowlands was a PGCE student on the Economics and Business PGCE course at Staffordshire University. The two runners-up for the award were Aaron Summons, who also trained at Staffordshire University and Toby Medaris. Toby did his teacher training at Berkhamsted School in Hertfordshire.

Michael was presented with his certificate by Chief Executive, Duncan Cullimore, who asked Guy Durden, the Award Leader on the PGCE course at Staffordshire to say a few words. Guy said:

"Michael is an outstanding trainee – hugely thoughtful and deep thinking in his approach to teaching and learning and driven by a genuine passion for Business Studies and Economics.  His quiet modesty is balanced by a strong sense of direction and a steely determination to see that all his students make progress in thinking differently about the world around them.  His development of a unique teacher voice at such an early stage is exceptional.  He will be a great credit to the profession."

Congratulations Sandra!

Accepting the award on Sandra's behalf, colleague Laura Richardson spoke of Sandra's unparalleled dedication to her work at the school. Sandra's current teaching position is as Head of Business, Economics and Enterprise at the Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
